Contrary to last season’s neons and spring’s upcoming pastel trend, this week designer’s are overwhelmingly channeling muted jewel tones and neutrals with scattered color punches. Navy, black, grey, and shades of brown found their way onto most runways, but an overwhelming wild card has been burgundy. For me burgundy is only slightly bolder than a neutral, and depending on the undertones can overwhelm or wash out pale skin. Surprisingly, over the years I have collected a number of maroon and burgundy pieces in my wardrobe. While it pairs easily with other standard neutrals, I would rather play it against the rare brighter hues of the week for an easily wearable jolt of color.
