Summer Beach Weekends

Happy Friday! Can’t you just taste the weekend a mere few hours away? This week seemed long, but was actually very productive and busy.

This weekend I am heading to one of my favorite places in the world for the first time this summer. I am so looking forward to a relaxing break, some fresh seafood, and the always calming to me salt water.

Last weekend, in a desperate attempt to find the ocean, the boy and I ventured to Jacob Riis Park. I had never heard of the park, but read about it in Time Out New York as a quick beach “staycation.” I’ll admit, I had never ventured to a “New York” beach. The Hamptons sounded snooty, the rest dirty, and I frankly had no interest. But I was craving the sand and am so glad we ventured out! We took the subway to the bus to find a quiet, diverse beach with clean water, a huge expanse of sand, and a hot dog on the boardwalk. Plus, how often do you see New York City on the horizon of the ocean?

I wore my staple denim cutoffs over my bikini for the whole day, and felt very at home. The t-shirt is American Eagle – and I love it! I have two others and they truly are “the perfect tee.”
At the end of the day, we splurged to take the ferry back to the city. I highly recommend it! Once you’re on board you pass Staten Island, Coney Island, and Red Hook before coasting into Wall Street, with a beverage in hand if you beat the rush!
I hope you have a fabulous weekend filled with plenty of fun in the sun!
