Recently, I’ve seen a lot of street style photos gravitating towards all black looks. While it’s a natural fit for NYC, it also makes fall layering much easier when you stick with one easy neutral. However, all black dressing has never come easily for me. While I do often mix black in with other neutrals, I much prefer a dose of color, metallic, or print thanks to the positive effect it tends to have on my mood. With this in mind, I came across this gorgeous runway image on Pinterest, and love the mix of textures and silhouettes. Winter white always reminds me of my mom since she would often break out a winter white sweater or pants during the holidays. A mix of nubby knits or a cozy eyelash sweater feels perfect for winter (maybe it’s the snow similarity?) An added bonus? You don’t have to worry about the “shades of” effect. While a mix of faded black can appear a bit lazy or worn out, a mix of white and ivory adds to the luxe layered look.
A few favorite picks:
– A white coat subtly elevates an everyday outfit. I love the fuzzy texture of this one.
– I am a recent convert to the puffy vest crowd. Mine is a vibrant red, but this white quilted version would be great for layering.
– A slim white pencil skirt would be fun work wardrobe addition, plus I love a good zipper detail.
– This sweater has luxurious eyelash texture with a pretty beaded shoulder.
The sweater and pencil skirt paired with the coat and nude pumps would be a beautiful alternative to an standard all black cocktail look, don’t you think?
